About the Teacher

Melody Troutner earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in piano performance from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, graduating summa cum laude.  She has over fifteen years of post-undergraduate experience teaching piano lessons to students of all ages and ability levels, including a university teaching assistantship while pursuing her master's degree. Numerous years of serving as a church pianist and working as an accompanist gave her real-life experience using her skills.

A former middle school English teacher, Mrs. Troutner enjoys working with student groups.  She has taught elementary and middle school general music classes and has also conducted youth choir and instrumental ensemble.  As a trained Kindermusik early childhood music educator, she understands the importance of musical experiences in early childhood.

Mrs. Troutner's goal as a teacher is for her students to become well-rounded musicians who will enjoy making music their whole lives.  Her piano program provides students a variety of experiences to broaden their musical skills and understanding. Performance, music history, theory, technique, sight-reading, composition, and ensemble activities round out each student's musical education.

Mrs. Troutner is a member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Georgia Music Teachers Association, and, locally, the Gwinnett County Music Teachers Association, where she serves as Music Chair on the Ensemble Concert Committee.
